Please note: This review is based on delivery food from this restaurant. After a wedding in EL this weekend, my friends and I decided we wanted food but no one wanted to order my favorite late-night delivery food from college, Gumby's Pokey Sticks - cheesy, greasy bread stick/pizza. (And yes, I know that it's now Goomba's but I will never submit to the new titles.) I guess we're all older, wiser and healthier in our 20-something, young professional years, so we went with another nearby delivery option - Pita Pit. This was one of the "healthy fast food" spots we'd sometimes visit in college while perusing Grand River. I, nor anyone else in my group, had ever ordered delivery from here, so we weren't sure what to expect. We did learn that ordering by phone was much easier and quicker than ordering online via Smartphone, as proved by a race between me and my husband. Fortunately, the food was as we ordered it and all clearly labeled as well as arriving in what felt like record time (less than a half hour) considering the prime time we were ordering (after a wedding, late at night) and location (Kellogg Center). As for the quality of food itself, I found it to be decent given the situation. I ordered the fork-style "pita" which is in the end a salad (Yes, make fun of me for the fact that this dish is the complete opposite of the Pokey Sticks I originally wanted earlier in the night. But, hey, I knew we were ordering from a healthier restaurant so I decided to go all the way.) The spinach felt like it had come from a bag of pre-washed produce in the fact that every single leaf was exactly the same size and color, and there was an abundance of it. Tomatoes were diced very small, making it seem inappropriately placed in salad, and the feta as well as the chicken souvlaki (the main protein!) were sparse. The hummus was bland, while the tzatziki sauce was not a thin yogurt consistency but was more like a thick flavorless Greek yogurt or sour cream. In the end , there was nothing egregiously wrong with the food. It was all edible and of decent quality, but it definitely did not stand out for any kind of bold flavor or presentation.

So, I didn't get food poisoning (see prior review). My co-worker did.

With the abundance of WAY better late night options in East Lansing, I am wondering how this place stays in business. Food was just this side of inedible, service was slow and disrespectful, and I felt like I might have stuck to the chair if I sat anywhere. Hit up Menna's instead, you'll be happier.

Pita Pit is a typical shi* bag college restaurant. It's rundown and dirty. It consistently has brown lettuce. The owner could double his profit from this place if he put a little money and effort into it. This place will likely be a disappointment if you're used to other Pita Pit locations.

I really like the East Lansing Pita Pit establishment. The service is always pretty friendly and the food, while a bit more expensive than a lot of East Lansing food places, is fresh and somewhat healthy. My favorite pita is the chicken breast pita w/hummus (though the hummus costs $1 extra, it's totally worth it in my opinion). They offer delivery, too, which I have taken advantage of several times.

Sometimes it is a 3 star and sometimes it's a 4. Lately, they have been falling on the 4 star side. So, I'll give them the benefit out the doubt here. When it's a four star, this place is pretty darn great. The pitas are fresh and stuffed full of fresh ingredients. My go to is always a Super Greek (half chicken souvlaki and half gyro) with avocado (free topping btw which is a big plus). They deliver, but it is really a shot in the dark. Sometimes it takes an hour plus to get your food or 20 minutes. It really just depends on the day. Overall, it is a solid EL choice for fresh and healthier food.

They can't handle busy times. They often send the wrong pita. When you tell them they screwed up it takes two hours to correct it. Their "driver" hasn't been available multiple times because he had a flat tire or some other bs. Bottom line: they hire shitty employees which kills the good food. I used to order 1-2 x week. Now I try and order once a year if they don't have some idiot working the phone.

It's extremely strange because I've had some AMAZING wraps here. Yet sometimes I've come here and the wraps they made were very small (almost half the size) as well as quite dry and cold. I suppose it depends on who's working. I think that they should work on training their cooks the same way.

I can't complain. The pitas are good at a decent price in a good location on Grand River. The Caesar pita is definitely worth a try.

Great pitas. The guy working the counter (I think his name was Gavin?) was super hot. He was very helpful too! Overall, a great experience. 10/10 would pita again

First time customer. Ordered a "Super Greek" wrap for myself and a hummus veggie wrap for my vegetarian kid. We ordered it online and requested it be delivered. We got the sandwiches earlier than estimated and they were huge! The delivery driver was very professional and friendly. The sandwiches were surprisingly good and fresh tasting. My only real turn off was the meat was very processed. But it was still delicious, so I can look past that.

I had a groupon so I ordered online ahead of time and came in 20 minutes afterwards to pick it up. It still took another 10 minutes to be finished, so it's quite slow. It was just okay. The pita was soggy and not that tasty. The spinach was not fresh and clearly hadn't been for some time. This was my second time coming here, I probably wouldn't pay full price for this food.

****PLEASE READ!**** This was the most horrendous experience I have ever had. Note: I did not say dining experience. This was horrible in all aspects of the word. After going dancing on a Friday night, my friends and I went to pita pit for a late night healthy fix. Two of the friends are African American males and one is a middle eastern female. This will become relevant later. Upon entering the place, we were greeted by a customer who was there with 4-5 her friends some of which were already eating. They were the only ones in the store. She said (and I quote), "Get out! Go home!!!" I questioned whether or not she was sober (which I soon after realized she was) and continued my way in. We were not greeted by the two employees, they noticed us come in and my friend standing in front of the cashier waiting to order, however proceeded to ignore us. I was so busy contemplating on how rude that customer was to us, that I didn't even realize we had been waiting, unspoken to, for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, one employee was merely lounging around while the other one was placing toppings ever so slowly on the last customer before us' pita. My friend was fed up at that point so she went up to the guy and asked him if they're going to take our order and he told her they were "busy". She told him that it's common decency to at least greet the customer and tell them you'll be right with them. He still didn't take her order. The second time she confronted him, we left. I have never in my life felt so degraded and offended. It was made clear that they didn't want to serve US. I wrote this review to warn other innocent people wanting a pita minus the potentially discriminatory treatment. I hope this place makes some serious changes!! Needless to say, we did not purchase any pitas.

Pita Pit is a perfect late night meal- with a great location on Grand River and delivery until late at night, a sandwich from Pita Pit is one of my favorite drunchies. My order of choice is the chicken souvlaki with tomatoes, lettuce, and tzatziki sauce. Pita Pit's tzatziki sauce tastes great and is of coney island quality/authenticity. The pitas can range from $5-10 and are very filling without over stuffing. Definitely a thumbs up!
